Kathy Caiello has been a fitness professional since 1980 and
has always been interested in health and fitness. At a very young age (10 years
old), she set up obstacle courses in her back yard to help some of the neighborhood
kids “get in shape.” Pursuing a career in fitness seemed natural after
growing up with siblings who were athletic and health conscious.
She first studied dental hygiene and then nursing in college, but after graduating college Kathy decided that teaching others to become healthy and fit was truly her passion. Further education was needed to pursue this new career path in the Health and Fitness arena. Her accreditations and certifications from the American Council on Exercise include Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Fitness Trainer, Clinical Exercise Specialist (assisting people with special needs).
In reaching out to a wider audience, Kathy made an exercise video in the early
1990s, while working at Gold's Gym in Dewitt, called “Absolutely Abs,”
which she marketed regionally. That video opened the door to her television and
radio career, which included the following: fitness segments on News Channel 9
for 12 years, the featured fitness personality for WHEN weekly radio “Sports
Talk,” “Magazine 13” fitness specials, WTVH/TV 5 “Focus
on Fitness” special, and most recently her own fitness segments called “FitStop
with Kathy Caiello” for News 10 Now.
